Ok well I am planning on
doing the MSc in Real Estate and getting a bit worried about the difference in
the valuation systems and a few other aspects between the US and UK property
markets. The module Real Estate
Valuation and Feasibility Analysis / REAL1-GC1055 particularly jumps out to
me, as well as Real
Estate Valuation and Feasibility Analysis / REAL1-GC1055. I am already a
graduate from the Bartlett School of Architecture of UCL
in London and have gained I would say a reasonable understanding of how the US
property market works, however enough to know that I may struggle if I don’t come
to grips with the terminology, processes and laws of the US property market.

Once again thanks for the help.
sharif

Re: About

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Maybe you can help me with some doubts: I am an architect, born in Spain, and worked in London for a top architecture company for 4 years. In Spain architecture market is not good now, and construction and development are the same. I have always liked real estate and my intention (or hope!) is to develop my own buildings in a future. So after doing some research I applied to NYU and Columbia and Harvard. I haven't got a response yet, but maybe you could give some advice on the different programs, and maybe suggest a good route to follow as you have been student of NYU and also work on a RE company. Thank you very much! Today, while searching for a suitable platform, just come across your site which is nothing but wonderful. I have gone thru it and found it very resourceful.

I just wonder if you can allow me to make a guest post in your site/blog with a unique personal finance or current economic condition related article (or any article to your choice). Rest assured my article will be 100% original and will be in accordance with your blog's core content. I made this question to you as I saw a guest post on your site assuming that you might too accept my unique guest post on your site.

In return, if you wish, you too can make guest posts in my blogs or sites or take suitable backlinks from the same.

Please consider this as this will benefit us mutually. You will get a fresh relevant article in addition to a very good backlink for your site or any blog. I was actually born and raised in Philly.

Now I'm living in Oxford, PA (Southern Chester County) absolutely nothing like you living in New York lol

I just started to get into commercial real estate this year but I've been a sfh and mh investor for 11 years now (plus I do have my real estate license.)

Perhaps we can help each other on our journeys through real estate. My blog is GoinFlippinCrazy.com I blog about what I'm doing in regards to commercial real estate (and other things. I own an ATM business too and talk about that and other forms of passive income.)

Well it was a pleasure meeting you in the blogosphere. I'm going to book mark you now :-) As a matter of fact, I will add you to my blog roll on my blog.

Re: About

Hey Marcus, I'm glad you discovered the site and I hope you found it useful. I don't really know your situation and I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm not entirely sure that an MBA is the right route for you. In general, I'm pretty skeptical about MBA's. I think the best way to learn about real estate is to get a job in real estate, no matter what part of the business it's in. I think working full time and pursuing a masters in real estate on the side is probably your best bet. Feel free to email me if you'd like to discuss this further.

Re: About

Joe,

I am glad I have come across your blog. I saw it listed on a post on BiggerPockets.com.

I guess you could say I am new to the real estate world. I graduated college a few years ago with a bachelor's in something on the other end of the spectrum, started a family and went downhill when the economy went, liberal arts degrees, well what can I say. Being out of work and down and out gives someone an opportunity to rethink things. I've always enjoyed real estate and paid attention to the market. Currently I am in the process of getting things worked out to start an MBA program in fall of 2011, with focus on real estate. After that I wouldn't mind working for a small investment firm where I can wear many hats. Eventually I want my own company, and knowing myself I will probably skip the working for someone else for a few years and just go for it.

Re: About

Eric, thank you so much for the kind words. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of your blog (especially compared to some of the self serving trash many "knowledgeable" tweeple). As such, I wanted to shoot you a quick email but I thought it might be more polite to introduce myself here first, then ask your permission.

I'm an undergrad at UC Santa Barbara studying Business Economics with Accounting and Technology Entrepreneurship. This past year I have been extremely involved in the entrepreneurship and technology community in Santa Barbara. At the same time I have been studying Real Estate and recently have decided that Real Estate might be a better avenue for me to focus my hunger for knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit. I saw many similarities between what I have been doing in Santa Barbara with my education and energy and what you have been doing (although experientially you are 4 years my senior). Would you mind if I sent you an email? I'd appreciate the opportunity to connect and hear your experience how you have juggled your studies and extra curricular passion, and how you have gotten to this point... Also, feel free to shoot me an email at ericamzalag at gmail dot com if you'd like and I'll email you back.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Eric Amzalag

Re: About

Hey Joe - Thanks for the reply. I think it would be great if you could get them to participate in a Q&A article on the website. Specifically though focused on how they obtained capital for all of these acquisitions that they made in such a short time, especially in this market....it seems as though nobody ever goes into detail in regards to how to they obtained their capital, whether it be high-net worth individuals, inheritance, or institution investors, etc. Check out these two links to the post article and the company website, possibly you may know these folks personally. Whatever the case, I have a feeling they have a really interesting story to tell on how they got capital to start this company.

http://www.nypost.com/p/new...

http://bmregroup.com/

Your website is great.
